Diaries (Tagebücher)

Starting in 1900, Franziska Baumgarten-Tramer maintained diaries. These were all handwritten, almost entirely in Polish. While the Swiss archives had someone translate her last diary into German, the rest were only available for viewing at the archives. I have now had all the diaries scanned and will try to make them available. It turns out that in many of them she kept letters and clippings that are not otherwise recorded in the archives.

Notes on Project:

1. I am skipping around each diary. See the spreadsheet below for a particular set of diaries to see whether transcription has been requested for a particular page.

2. I am paying for transcription only, not translation. The transcriber inserts ?? wherever there is difficulty in discerning what was written. 

3. There can be issues with the transcription when she inserts a few words in other languages: Russian, German, French. These need to be looked at by someone better able to interpret in those languages.

4. For each set of diaries below, there will be a link to a page on which there is an English translation (and commentary). This translation is basically a Google translate version of the Polish transcription. However, where, for example, she uses initials and the person being referenced is known, then that is added in.
